Sargam Foundation’s scholarship program is designed to promote Indian music by providing financial aid and scholarships to needy young and talented musicians from low income families from USA and India who want to pursue and promote traditional Indian music.
Participants’ Eligibility Criteria has been relaxed:
To be eligible for consideration for scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be from low income families
>> For an Indian family of four the maximum monthly income shall be less than Rs. 30,000 (earlier it was Rs. 20,000)
>> For a US Family of four the maximum annual income shall be less than US$ 23,850 - Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and aspiring to further their musical education in Indian music.
For Indian applicants minimum age shall be 12 years on January 1, 2015. - Application must show a specific and long standing interest (at least 3 years) in Indian music
- Applicants must have proven record of their prior musical achievement
- Applicants can fill-in application form on site
- Applicants musical talent must be demonstrated by live auditions and be selected by Sargam Foundation’s local selection committee
- Applicants must be finally approved by Sargam Foundation’s board of directors for scholarship
